(Taken from 'Tough love site'

You have a right to a night's sleep without:

· Worrying where your child is,

· Being woken by your child coming in drunk, stoned etc., or

· Phone emergencies from police, hospitals, or stranded family members.

You have the right to:

· Live in a clean house,

· Expect co-operation and courtesy in your home,

· Expect responsible behaviour from children in your family, regardless of age,

· Stop paying other's fines,

· Stop 'helping' your child and start taking care of yourself, and

· Make changes in your behaviour that your child does not like.

You have the right not to be treated badly or inconsiderately by your child. Loving your child is no excuse for accepting rude, violent, or inconsiderate behaviour. Help your children learn about your rights. If you do not make sure that your rights are respected, you cannot expect others, even your children, to respect those rights.

I would say a nice way to live.

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

I re read this today and think if every parent/child read this, maybe just maybe our lives will all be better.

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

That makes great sense.

I agree with you Firechild, but it is because they didn't want to treat their own kids the same way they had been brought up. so yeah it is expected.
But have you noticed how children get away with everything with their own parents, but not with their grandparents...lol

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

Yes I have Unity I think children know who to push and who not to push. Also grandparents still have the authority they had when their children were small. My children have great respect for their grandparents.

Lol, I have to agree with you on this, they really do have great respect for the grandparents.

Children are our future, lets teach and show them the right way.

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

Everyone agrees that we should be there for our Children, treat them right and fair.
Do what is just and right.
Yet so many people forget that parents where not given a manual on raising children when they where born.
I have to say, sometimes parents forget to care about themselves and find themselves in a rut and loose focus on their own life and their spouse.
My mom used to tell me all so often...

UNITED WE STAND .... DIVIDED WE FALL..

I still believe in those few simple words..

For all those parents out there, take time and focus on yourself now and again. You are allowed that also.

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

Parents that stand along side each other make happy children.

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

It makes me so sad when I see children having no respect for their parents.

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

It is so wrong how our youth is growing up...

They don't play outside, get way too much homework and yet they still are so demanding...

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

I really wish they would put this into school teachings as well...

So many children today have no respect...

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

In today's life, I have watched so many children disrespect their parents.

So happy my children are grown up...

I would not have coped with them in today's time...

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.
